MajorLink awarded again, the third year in a row, in the Hong Kong Awards for Industry. This time, MajorLink obtained the CMA Certificate of Merit in Machinery & Equipment Design for its POPstore Card-Net system from the 2002 Hong Kong Awards for Industry. POPstore Card-Net innovates the prepaid calling card vending by adopting the “on-demand” printing, intelligent dispensing, cashless payment and mobile alert technologies.

MajorLink provided LED Display and Kiosk solutions to the Traffic Branch (Road Safety Unit) of Hong Kong Police Force for its Road Safety Bus applications. The LED display is able to display eye-catching slogans that help educate the visitors about the road safety instructions. Besides, the touchscreen kiosk is loaded with several interesting and specially designed games software for visitors to learn more about road safety tips.

MajorLink provided its intelligent card vending kiosk to Telestation – an upstart card vending operator for deploying its Pre-paid Phone Card Vending project. This vending network makes use of self-serve vending terminal that can accept Octopus card payment to sell pre-paid phone cards bearing smaller face value targeting at the foreign worker segment including the Philippine maids in Hong Kong.

MajorLink secured order from Companhia De Electricidade De Macau (CEM) to supply, integrate and implement an Interactive Kiosk System for its information dissemination purpose. These unmanned kiosks are installed inside CEM premises for providing users with information access, data input and transaction enquiry.

MajorLink joined force with Vega – the leading supplier of professional AV solutions to showcase the latest technologies for campus IT applications. The joint seminar was successfully held in the Reading Land and Baptist Wing Lung Secondary School in October 2002. Highlights of the showcased technologies include “Split-Screen” display, wireless LED, smart card system, interactive kiosk, electronic display wall and infrared headphone.

MajorLink provided AcroView display and Station Announcer system to Tai Fung Bus for installation into MTR airport shuttle buses. The system is used to announce the next bus stop information and is capable to display adhoc announcements in text, graphic or video formats. A specially designed control keypad is equipped for the bus driver to command the control of the display and to store the passenger counts.

MajorLink developed Easy Order Station for Kodak (Hong Kong) to enable its quick-serve model for digital photo selection and ordering. The concept of the Easy Order Station rides on the use of a touch-screen kiosk that allows user to input a media card of choice such as compact flash and make photo selection on spot on a self-service manner.

MajorLink awarded the Innovative Entrepreneur Award of the Year 2002. Organized by the City Junior Chamber, the award aims to encourage innovative ideas and foster entrepreneurship development. This year, the awards were presented to 10 recipients and the ceremony was held on 27 July 2002 at the Kowloon Shangri-La Hotel.

MajorLink secured order to provide its Campus Smart Card solutions to West Island School under the English Schools Foundation. The project represents the first-of-its-kind contactless smart card project deployed for an international school in Hong Kong. The scope of project includes the issuing of student smart cards for supporting multiple card-related services including network printing control, photocopying control and card issuing management.

MajorLink showcased its latest technologies ranging from wireless-enabled smart card readers to self-serve card vending kiosks at the Hong Kong Information Infrastructure Expo 2002. This year’s event was successfully held during 7-10 March 2002 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

MajorLink appoints as the Official Smart Card Technology Advisor for the Hong Kong Information Infrastructure Expo & Conference 2002 organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. The event will be held during the period 7-10 March 2002 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.

MajorLink was invited to speak on Intelligent Vending Using Smart Card in the First ERG Userware Forum 2002 organized by ERG Transit Systems on 23 January 2002. The forum emphasizes on the themes of integrating transit smart cards into multi-application systems and exploring other opportunities with transit smart cards. Other forum speakers included representatives from ERG, Oracle, Sun, Tac Pacific and Consult Hyperion.

MajorLink showcased the latest technologies for smart campus at the IT Education Road Show organized by Ma On Shan Ling Liang Primary School. The event was successfully held on 12 January 2002 and interested many visitors and school participants including principals and teachers.
